Lines, commas and CSV
One entry per line is the default. Spaces are preserved inside phrases. Comma mode supports quotation marks and escaped quotes: "salt, pepper" is one entry. CSV uses recognized text and note headers, or the first and second columns without a header. Extra columns are identified and ignored. Unbalanced quotes stop the preview.
Duplicates and Unicode
Entries are normalized to NFC and trimmed. Duplicate identity ignores case and collapses whitespace, but preserves accents and punctuation distinctions: cafe and café remain different. The first duplicate note is kept; conflicting notes are flagged.
Limits and replacement
A deck holds 500 unique entries. Text allows 120 grapheme clusters, notes 1,000 characters. Paste input is limited to 1 MB, TXT/CSV files to 5 MB and Lab JSON to 20 MB. Preview reports invalid input without silently truncating. Append or Replace is explicit; replacement needs confirmation.
Your own answers
Custom strings have no invented dictionary metadata. Add a note and designate it as the answer for Meaning Recall. Use Bundled Meaning is a deliberate choice that shows available senses. Markup-like input is displayed as plain text.
