Word Sources
The built-in corpus is a selected resource, not a complete English dictionary. Each saved bundled entry retains its selected sense, example and provenance.
Actual review status
Content preparation includes source linkage, pronunciation-based syllable verification, structural validation and AI-assisted sense/prompt screening. Human review has not been recorded. Automated validation does not prove semantic accuracy or classroom suitability, and the Lab does not claim a completed human review.
Sources and reuse terms
Princeton WordNet 3.0
WordNet 3.0 license. Single-word lemmas with usage examples containing the lemma or a regular inflection; POS and meanings retain source senses. Selected example and definition length bounded; spelling variants excluded; safety screening is not a human suitability guarantee.
CMU Pronouncing Dictionary
BSD-style CMU license. First US pronunciation variant; syllables counted from stress-marked vowel phonemes, not spelling heuristics.
Lab-authored usage examples
Original project-authored example sentences; retained alongside the source definition under explicit per-sense provenance..
Lab activity prompts and guidance
Original project-authored material; no third-party prompt list copied..
Meaning, pronunciation and spelling
Words use US English display spelling. Syllables count stress-marked vowel phonemes in the first included CMU pronunciation, rather than estimating from letters. Pronunciation can vary by dialect and sense. Definitions follow particular source senses; not every possible meaning is exposed. Selected original examples are identified in provenance.
Editorial labels and prompt selection
Everyday and Stretch are editorial groupings, not measured frequency or certified levels. Theme membership is explicit. Drawing and acting prompts are selected separately for the intended activity; teacher review remains necessary for an individual group. All pack inventories remain visible even when you hide a word in your browser.
Fonts and attribution
Plus Jakarta Sans is self-hosted under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. WordNet 3.0 copyright 2006 Princeton University. CMUdict copyright Carnegie Mellon University. Full license notices accompany data exports and print artifacts where applicable.

Use Issue Details on a word to prepare its ID, selected sense and content version with your reason. Copy that report or use a configured email link. Nothing is automatically transmitted. Hide a bundled word to exclude it from future draws, and restore it in Settings.
