What Saved means
Decks and drafts live in IndexedDB on the current browser profile and origin. Saving succeeds only after the transaction completes. Browsers can clear or evict this data, particularly in private mode; there is no cloud account or automatic device synchronization.
Backup contents
Full Lab backup includes saved decks, drafts, collected entries, hidden-word preferences and a resumable session. It excludes Trash and temporary print jobs. Individual deck JSON preserves entry order, notes, selected senses, provenance and activity preferences. TXT and spreadsheet-safe CSV serve interoperability rather than exact restoration.
Import safely
Choose a Lab file, review its validated preview, then Merge or Replace. A deck imports as a new local copy by default. Matching titles are not duplicate identities. Unsupported schemas leave current data unchanged. Replacement offers backup and confirmation before a single transactional restore.
Move devices and recover
Export a JSON backup, transfer the file yourself, then import on the other device. Changing domain, HTTP/HTTPS or browser profile does not move data. If storage fails, export before leaving; an in-memory activity cannot survive normal navigation.
