Purpose
Practice explaining an idea using clues rather than saying the displayed entry.
Prepare your deck
Select recognizable words and review their meanings. Remove anything that would be unfair to your group.
Recommended timer: 60 seconds. Select entries, choose prepared or shuffled order, and review notes before starting. All settings are editable in the workspace.
Run the activity
- Select recognizable words and review their meanings. Remove anything that would be unfair to your group.
- Choose Describe without the Word. Shuffled order and a 60-second timer are useful starting settings.
- Control who can see the screen. Reveal a word to the describer, who gives clues without saying it.
- When a round finishes, choose Finish & Next. Hide covers the current word and pauses the timer without drawing another.
An example
For “chair,” say “You can sit on it, and it usually has a back.” Avoid saying part of the answer in a clue.
Variations and printing
Turn off the timer to focus on detailed clues. Print the description worksheet to prepare clues in advance. There is no automatic guessing or grading.
Useful packs
Sessions save a fixed snapshot. Editing a source deck does not change a running activity. Resume returns covered and paused; starting a new activity requires ending or resuming the existing one.
